AthleticsThe following athletes recently qualified for the Freestate Championships: Lungelwa Songalwa and Liteboho Koaho. Lungelwa also received a silver medal in the 150m and a bronze medal in the 100m. TennisThe school has five well maintained tennis courts. Tennis coaching takes place every afternoon throughout the year, except Fridays. Additional coaching can also be arranged. The beginners group is taken care of by an enthusiastic Mrs Bock, assisted by a student. The more advanced players are coached by Dr Groenewald and Mrs Koen. When a group is entered to play in the league championships, it normally takes place from July to September each year. Girls team played Sand du Plessis on 29 August and won by 11 games. They played Brandfort on 5 September and won by 17 games. They now have won 4 of 6 matches played. |
NetballBrebner has a very exciting and busy netball schedule with many keen players. The under 10, 11, 12 and 13 teams will be entered into weekly league matches in the second term. The U/13 team will also take part in the Southern Free State trials. The players as well as coached attend clinics where they can improve their skills and tactical play. Remember: Netball helps to teach the girls perseverance and cooperation as a team. 2013:
